This place might be hard to find. It is in a mall, on the second floor, go up the stairs and make a right. The restrooms are located outside of the restaurant, past the elevators.
The servers are very amiable. They even have little bells on the table! They were happy to refill our waters, and even gave us three free refills of pickled cucumbers!
Their small dishes (free starters consisting of bean sprouts, kim chee, spicy pickled cucumbers, and spicy squid) are fresh and delicious. The pickled cucumbers still retain their original crunch, even while being pickled. The squid, I think is raw, but that didn’t stop me! It was not chewy, but very soft. Tasted great! All but the bean sprouts are pretty spicy.
I ordered the oyster tofu ($10) and the Korean BBQ (Beef) ($14). This place is a steal compared to NYC prices! They don’t even charge tax!
Oyster tofu soup – If you can take a little spice, I suggest getting medium spicy. I got “little spice,” and it wasn’t enough for me. The tofu was fresh, and the broth was flavorful. However, I realized that cooked oyster does not taste as good as raw oysters. The egg I cracked into it didn’t cook as well, even though it came out boiling hot. You might have to stir the egg around. Although I only ordered one tofu soup, I got two rices (there were two of us), which I thought was really nice of them, since they didn’t charge us extra. The rices come in pots similar to the tofu soup pot. Also, there is a lot of rice. When you reach the bottom you can ask the water to pour some hot tea water in to make that special burnt rice.
The BBQ was good, salty and flavorful, but not as juicy as I had hoped. Some of the pieces were a little dry, but overall, there was a good mixture of savoriness and grilled flavor.
